Press Release
23 March 2008
Some decades after having successfully operated a PSTN-based international voice network enabling wholesale traffic, a European tier-1 carrier decided to expand its services to IP.
The carrier selected and deployed the VocalTec Essentra EX VoIP Peering Manager, a cost-effective peering solution for wholesale operators, clearinghouses and bilateral traffic-exchange organizations. Complementing the tier-1 carrier’s PSTN-based international voice network, also based on VocalTec equipment, the Essentra EX provides the multinational operator with a comprehensive, carrier-grade IP-based peering system.
The open, flexible solution enables the carrier to sell wholesale minutes from IP to IP networks, while bypassing PSTN carriers, as well as from IP to PSTN and PSTN to IP networks. Highly interoperable, the solution can be easily and quickly expanded to enable seamless connectivity among a range of SIP flavours and H.323-based networks.
